Hedgehog Corner is within 5 minutes drive of the Jurassic Coast and Lyme Regis, famous for its fossils and home of Hix Oyster & Fish House.  The South West Coast path is the ideal way for walkers to explore the coastline. The nearby market town of Axminster is home to    The River Cottage Kitchen.   For many years now, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and the River Cottage team have been asking the nation to see the sense and pleasure of sourcing food locally and seasonally. The River Cottage Kitchen in Axminster can be found in the centre of the town on Trinity Square. At the Deli they stock a selection of the best local and seasonal provisions. Virtually all of the produce is sourced locally by Hugh and his team, from some of the finest South West producers.

Farm shops nearby are Millers at Kilmington just off the A35 and Felicities on the A35 at Morcombelake.

There’s so much to do and explore in the area; Forde Abbey near Chard is a former medieval monastery with beautiful gardens or for those who like garden centres don’t miss Otter Nurseries, described as a colourful day out for everyone near the fantastic Joshua’s Harvest Store with light lunches.

The Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth is a must for animal lovers; here around 160 donkeys can be seen walking around the sanctuary. There are no commercial attractions – just gently rolling countryside with walks around the fields where you can meet the donkeys who adore the fuss and attention received from visitors – free entry.

Just 5 minutes drive to the Axe Valley Bird and Animal Park with resident Meerkats!  The Lyme Bay Winery is a great place to discover traditional ciders, country wines, liquers, cider brandy and more delightful gifts.

Finally, why not end the day in one of the fine restaurants including Hixs Oyster & Fish House or The Harbour Inn overlooking the Cobb at Lyme, the Tuckers Arms at Dalwood,  The Tytherleigh Arms near Axminster or walk to The Hunters Lodge Inn.  You’ll receive lots of local information from Joy on arrival and at Hedgehog Corner.
